Aims and Objectives

Otters, Kingfishers and Herons are just some of the river residents you can see.

Conservation

Denbigh & Clwyd Angling Club places a strong emphasis on conservation. The Club works closely with various agencies and landowners to ensure the rivers it manages are maintained properly and that the plants, insects and wildlife which depend on the rivers and surrounding land are given every opportunity to flourish.

Following the identification of otters on one beat on the small River Clywedog, a complete section of that river has now been allowed to grow over and become unfishable so that the Bevy can live undisturbed.

Bank maintenance is only carried out at limited times in the year to ensure that nesting birds and their young are not affected.

In conjunction with local conservation officers, saplings have been planted to enhance the bankside and encourage increased insect life, thereby helping to maintain and improve the food chain for both birdlife and fish.
